Simulated Learning Environment Advisory Group
Draft Terms of Reference
1.1 Membership includes recognised leaders in the field of simulation, curriculum
development and competency assessment in nursing education.
1.2 The Chairperson will be elected from within the membership of the Simulated Learning Environment Advisory Group. They have the authority to recruit group members and determine the expertise required to attend the CDNM needs. They may co-opt additional members for specific experience and expertise to address specific tasks. In addition the Chairperson has delegated authority to approve SLE group activities and will provide regular reports on activity to the CDNM.
2. 0 SLE Group Meetings & Records
2.1 The SLE group will convene as required to address the needs of CDNM. Meetings will be conducted by teleconference and face to face. Face to face meetings will be held on an annual basis as a minimum.
2.2 Administrative support for the Group will be provided from within the CDNM Secretariat.
3.0 Key Tasks
3.1 To support the CDNM to meet strategic goals related to simulation in nursing and midwifery education.
3.2 To provide advice to the Council with respect to relevant policy and issues regarding national and international initiatives in simulation.
3.3 To develop strategies in collaboration with Council for advancing the development and use of simulation in nursing and midwifery.
3.4 Develop in collaboration with Council strategies for profiling in the media, developments in simulation in nursing and midwifery.
3.5 Facilitate recognition of innovation in simulation and the contribution that nursing and midwifery make to this.
3.6 Promote and facilitate research in simulation.
3.7 Represent Council at relevant fora (nationally and internationally) where simulation and education issues are addressed.
