Research Advisory Group

Purpose

To advise on policy issues and teaching and learning matters relating to nursing and midwifery research, to represent Council on relevant committees and to develop strategies for promoting research in the disciplines of nursing and midwifery.

Terms of Reference

The mission of the Council is to lead and represent those who provide higher education for nurses and
midwives by:

  • Advise Council with respect to relevant policy issues relating to national and international research initiatives including funding announcements, policy decisions, and assessment mechanisms;
  • Develop, in collaboration with Council, both short-and long-term trans-Tasman strategies for advancing nursing and midwifery research;
  • Develop, in collaboration with Council, strategies relating to targeted, and sustained, profiling of nursing and midwifery research in the media;
  • Facilitate the development of programmatic research through identification of capacity building initiatives, targeting funding etc.;
  • Represent Council at research fora, and relevant government eg DEST, NH&MRC, ARC, HRCNZ, advisory and consultative meetings; and,
  • Facilitate recognition of the contribution nursing and midwifery research makes to social innovation.
